POSADA is a Mexican tradition in which Mary and Joseph travel around a town during Advent, spending a night in different homes, recalling their journey to Bethlehem
Posada is Spanish for an “Inn”.
WE would like 23 volunteers - families, individuals or couples – to offer hospitality to Mary and Joseph every day/night, starting at the All-Age Service on 1 December and ending at the Crib Service on 24 December.
As host/hostess your responsibilities would be:-
Arrange with their previous host to go to their home in the late afternoon and meet Mary and Joseph.
Escort them to your home, give them a meal, engage with them during the evening and make them comfortable at bed-time.
It would be nice to offer them hot chocolate as they are not used to cold countries.
They love children and having an evening of playtime is great.
Sometimes, however, they like a quiet night in, so all sorts of hosts are needed.
You might like to read the Christmas story with them, maybe get a better insight!
They can have a lie-in if they wish but give them breakfast, then include them in your normal day-time routine.
You will be contacted by the next host, who will arrange to meet them at your home in the late afternoon and escort them to theirs.
Maybe share what they have been doing over a cuppa.
If you can take a photo of Mary and Joseph while they are with you and send it to Graeme Wheeler (email@example.com) for a picture board, that would be great!
It won’t be necessary to host their donkey as he will be staying at Park Farm while they are in Oakley.
If you would like to offer Mary and Joseph hospitality, please let Richard or Mary Cripps (booking agents) know by phone (01256 780547, leave a message) or email
Demand is likely to be high, so hurry while dates are still available!
There will also be a sign-up sheet over coffee on 17 November.
