Revd Jeremy Vaughan
Has been Rector of St Leonard’s in Oakley and St Lawrence’s in Wootton since 2010. He is married to Carole and has four adult children and ten grandchildren. Before entering the ministry Jeremy was an engineer. One of his most memorable birthday presents from his family was a footplate ride on the £2m A1 class 60163 ‘Tornado’ express locomotive.
Revd Carole Vaughan
Is the Assistant Minister and married to Jeremy. She has actually served the parish longer than her husband having worked with the previous Rector. Formerly a teacher of children with special needs Carole has been responsible for children’s work in the parish. On the limited time she has to herself Carole is a keen gardener.
Deals with the nitty gritty of keeping the parish running. When she is not listing terriers(lists of church artefacts) and going to meetings, Sheila enjoys ballroom dancing, with her husband Mike, learning Spanish, possibly inspired by recent holidays in Cuba, and organising Christian prayer counselling.
Married to Diana. Has a prodigious knowledge of how the Anglican Church functions. Formerly a VAT inspector has many entertaining stories about the challenges of stake outs on tax dodgers. Previously chairman of Basingstoke’s Citizens’ Advice, he somehow also fits in time to keep parts of the River Loddon weed clear for anglers.
The voice at the end of the Church Office phone. If she doesn’t know the answer it won’t be long before she does. Before joining us she worked at the Register Office and the customer support department of the John Lewis store in Basingstoke. She enjoys cooking and coastal yomping- ideal training for the busy office!
