Monday to Thursday 9.00am -12.00pm

Wednesdays and Fridays 9.00am-2.45pm

Term time only.

Awarded ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2016, St Leonard’s Playschool is a friendly, caring and well equipped pre-school run by an experienced, dedicated staff. Children enjoy a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities every session.

The Ofsted inspector commented “(The children) are confident learners who are able to make their own play choices in a good learning environment. They are quickly learning the skills needed for the eventual move on to school.”

The Playschool receives funding for the provision of free early education for children aged 2 to 4 years.

Currently the Playschool is open Monday to Thursday 9.00am-12.00pm and on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.00am-2.45pm. Term time only.

The Playschool  welcome visits from prospective parents during any of their morning sessions.

Dates for your diary:

•We do not have any INSET days this term. We are open on Friday 9th February when Oakley schools are closed.

•Half term Monday 12th February – Friday 16th February

•End of term Thursday 29th March.

On Monday Leanne is joining the playschool team. We are looking forward to working with her.

On Thursday and Friday we are talking about cleaning our teeth. Each child will have a toothbrush to practice with and to demonstrate their brushing skills! They will be bringing home a book to keep about a crocodile brushing his teeth. The book has been donated by BOOKSTART to encourage reading.

For the next two weeks we are having a building focus.We have recently been given a work bench and tools which the children have enjoyed using.PLEASE can you you send in boxes for us to use to build with, any size, big or small. We will be building walls,towers, dens and buildings using boxes, blankets and pegs, duplo, soft bricks, stickle bricks etc. In the role play area we will have a dark den to use torches in.

The sensory experience will be rice. The rhyme of the week will be Humpty Dumpty and the story sack will be The Three Pigs.The maths focus will be on sets e.g making a set of dinosaurs, a set of blue toys, a set of boots, and the sound focus will be on the sounds animals make.

Finally, if your contact details change, please inform us ASAP so that we can contact you in the case of an emergency. Also, if someone new is picking up your child for whatever reason please let us know before hand, either when you drop your child off or, if it is last minute please phone ahead so that we know. We are unable to release ANY child to an adult who is not the parent or who is not listed as an authorised person to collect the child unless we have had your permission. Thank you for your understanding and support.
