Baptisms and Blessings

Steps to baptism in Oakley and Wootton parish

We welcome people of all ages who wish to be baptised and affirm their membership of Christ’s church. Here are the steps towards Baptism:

  1. Contact Christine Peryer (pictured below) on 01256 780502 who will note your details and invite your family to the church.Christine is married to Mark and they have two grown-up children. Christine has been helping with the administration side of Baptisms in the parish for over 20 years.  She is a retired teacher but is still involved in children’s activities at St Leonard’s.  Christine enjoys getting to know the families she meets.  She is usually the first point of contact for Baptism enquiries in this parish.
  2. Come to St. Leonard’s on a Sunday at 10.00am (there is provision for children each week) and arrange for the Rector, Jeremy Vaughan, to visit you.
  3. Come to the preparation sessions – we have a lovely team who lead these sessions on two Sunday mornings with fresh coffee and food!
  4. At one of our Sunday services following the preparation, fix a date to meet with Jeremy to discuss your/your child’s Baptism.Richard and Mary Cripps lead the two week baptism preparation course. They joined St Leonard’s Church soon after they moved to Oakley in 2010. They had previously lived in West London. They have 3 children and 11 grandchildren aged 0 to 15 so whatever age your children are, they know one!  Richard hails originally from Southampton and still supports The Saints. He is a retired Social Worker with People with Disabilities and Mary works with British Sign Language users.  They are involved in various local community activities.
