THE Pilgrimage is back and open to all – recreation, inspiration, reflection.
The postponed Pilgrimage to Winchester Cathedral, celebrating “2020 The Year of the Pilgrimage” will take place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September and herald the start of the Oakley Green Week.
On 26th we will walk in distanced groups/individuals along the ancient paths from St Johns Field Oakley to Brown Candover church via Dummer (about 10 miles) and on 27th from Brown Candover via Itchen Abbas to Winchester Cathedral (about 13 miles).
To maintain biosecurity there will neither be additional joining points, helpers nor an overnight stay in Brown Candover.
Participants must be walking fit, properly equipped and self-sufficient in carrying food, water and PPE.
Everyone must make their own transport arrangements; from Brown Candover to home, at the end of Day 1, and to the restart at Brown Candover on Day 2 and, their return home from Winchester after a special Service at 4.30pm in the Cathedral - there are trains from Winchester to Basingstoke.
Only 30 pilgrims can attend this Service due to COVID restrictions and priority must be given to those who have walked the Way for both days.
To join the Pilgrimage, perhaps to reflect on the past months and/or enjoy the nature around us, email to [email protected] by Monday 21 September.
The forms contain information on the timings, route and anything further will be posted to participants by email and on this website and the Oakley & Deane Parish Council website
So… we should all be walking fit by now, ready for an invigorating challenge and we look forward to welcoming you to this very special church and community event.
Be aware it may be subject to changes in the event of last minute COVID restrictions or anything else outside of our control – but we hope and pray not!
